Kids photography camp!
If you don’t go on vacations for Spring Break…and need to work, but you have littles at home with you….how do you balance it all? I decided to host a kids photography camp! This way, I could still be with my kids, and help them and other kids take better pictures too! You don’t always know what you know until you teach what you know to someone else…you know? LOL.
Everyone had their own phone camera to use and we worked from a Scavenger hunt list that I created for them. We met at one of my favorite spots in Rochester called High Falls. I have been here a bazillion times over my years living in the city, but it was an amazing surprise for the kids! I love this spot because it's visually interesting any time of the year, and as a kid? A giant playground of adventures!
There were angles, and patterns, and designs everywhere…as I taught them how to “see” them. We learned about lighting, and composition, and high and low points of view, different lens choices…color and contrast… allll the things. I had them share their favorite images half way through, and then again at the end… they truly improved their work so much over our time together. I could feel their pride after showing me what they took, and their excitement for recognizing the difference in how they saw the world around them. Plus, they had fun!
I am so proud of these kids! They worked as teams, and as individuals and I will definitely be offering these classes again. My heart is full. Congratulations!! Some of the kids who signed up needed to post pone, so if you think this is something your kid would love, let me know...I'm already planning the next one!
